One of my syrupy poems.

YELLOW MORNINGS     by Don Yarber

I awoke and the morning was yellow
So I took my rose colored paint
And tried to paint myself something
I know damned well that I aint.

I tried to paint life all pretty
With pictures of me and you
And orchids and daisies and roses
But somehow everything came out blue

I know there’ll be more yellow mornings
And I know there’ll be more blue nights
Cause life can’t be like a story
Where everything comes out all right.

But if you let me I know dear
That I can start painting again
Those orchids and daisies and roses
And rainbows where dark clouds have been.
