For Charlie

Our time has come and gone
Never more to bask in the sun
Nor to walk hand in hand on the shore
The sun has set on us, never to rise again

The wall between us was to great
Not even the greatest of my love
Could break it down
Much less chip away at it's mortar

Time and space keeping me from you
Of years and miles, ever relentless
My hand to be forever empty
As my arms close upon thin air

We say our goodbyes as I turn
To face the days ahead
Unsure of my own future
But one I'll have to face

Without you
