soul mates

The things I see on my way to the bus!

The world reflected in her eyes
she calmly stares up at the sky.
Unknowingly we pass her by
blur her vision with careless stride.

Year after year storms come and go
half the time she’s lost in snow
but in the summer comes the rain
and she returns to shine again.

The things she’s seen we’ll never know
yet every secret she does show ~
nothing hidden, nothing stored
all revealed without a word.

Eternal mirror of the earth
through sweltering death to wet rebirth;
I contemplate the wisdom found
in this small puddle on the ground.
