soul mates

A caged bird cannot fly.

It cannot soar through the sky,

To fly higher and higher.

To test the wind and the fire.

To bask in the orange glow.

Yet he is content not to know.

Because he has dreams.

Where he can reach sunbeams.

He can fly higher than the birds he’s seen.

His world is perfect and clean,

And winters are no longer harsh and mean.

So he is content to live in dreams.

Because the caged bird does fly,

Just not in our typical sky.
