Under the Double Star - Chapter One

This writing contains explicit content and is only for adults. You have been warned.

It was a bright sunny day, especially walking here in the park. This was ideal summer weather, it was hot but not humid and there was a nice breeze blowing through the park. If the rest of the summer felt like this, the park would be my favorite place to think.

Bell began to talk. "Hey Rose, I've got a question."

       "Yes, ask away."

She grabbed my hand and smiled. She seemed so innocent, so pure sometimes, it was sweet. "Well how come we don't burst into flames when we step out in the sun?"

"Well one of my ancestors, A.K.A. the guy who bit the guy, who bit the guy, who bit the girl, who bit the guy who bit me, paid a witch a lot of money to "curse" him with the ability. What he didnt expect was that he would pass that curse down from bite to bite.

She looked a little confused. "So you have the curse and, when you bit me, you passed it down to me?"

       "Yep."

"But how? It's not like you have your own blood. All of your genes should be unpassable  by a bite."

"Okay it wasn't just a bite. As a vampire I have to tell you that answers to many of your questions are found in the gray."

       She looked at me, puzzled.

In other words, your answers havent been found out yet. So everyone else is as in the dark as you and I."

She didn't look so confused anymore, maybe a little discontent.

Just then a jogger ran straight into her. They both fell backwards to the ground. I was surprised, she must have really been sidetracked to not have sensed him earlier. I wondered what she had been thinking about.

The jogger looked like a boy our age. He got up and helped Bell to her feet. "I'm so sorry. I really should have been watching where I was going and I guess who i was knocking over." He smiled over at me then stopped. "Hey! You two are new here arent ya!"

I nodded "Yeah, we just moved to town."

He smiled really big. "Well would you like a tour? I still have a mile left on my run but I dont really feel like running anymore. I might run into more people." He blushed slightly and smiled at Bell.

I started to say no but Bell spoke before I could. "yeah, that would be great. We've been wanting to go looking around." she turned, and smacked my arm. "Isn't that just great, Rose?"

I flinched slightly. It may have seemed like a tap but i know her and i know that it was her way of telling me to behave. "Yeah, that would be great." I put on a smile. It was fake but i don't think he noticed.

"Cool! Follow me. I'm Keith by the way. What's your names?"

       "I'm Bell."

       "And I'm Rose."

He smiled. "Sweet! It's nice to meet you both, and a pleasure to take you on a tour."

Great, so much for our day alone.
