Under the Double Star - Chapter One

Drew opened her eyes to find herself alone in the darkness. She sat up and looked around. When she didn't find Dimitri she tried to get up grabbing franticly at the dark that just slipped right through her fingers.

Then she felt a hand grab hers. She pulled back and the man toppled onto her. Drew closed her eyes and tried to hit him and she got in a few blows before the man grabbed her wrists and held them by her head.

He finally spoke. "Drew calm down, it's just me. Its alright."

Drew opened her eyes to blue eyes that could only be Dimitris.

"Did I surprise you?" He smiled down at her. Then he leaned down and kissed her lips softly. His lips felt like two petals so soft and amazing his lips also tasted like something from her past. What it was Drew couldn't quite put her finger on but she remembered the taste well.

"I- I just didn't know it was you is all." She looked to the side blushing. "You shouldn't sneak up on a girl like that."

He smiled down at her. "It may be dark but I can still see you blushing. Don't turn your beautiful face away from me, especially when your being so cute. It's absolutely irresistible."

She blushed again. "You said that on purpose cause you knew it would make me blush!"

He chuckled tossing his head back and then sat up. "Oh, my sweet midnight you give me so much more credit than I deserve." His eyes got serious as his hand trailed down her leg. "But, it's good to know mere compliments can make you so cute. I'll have to keep that in mind." He winked at her and began to lean in closer to her.

She quickly backed away and smiled at him nervously. He sat confused for a moment then smiled. "Why do you back away?" Then just like that he vanished with his words still lingering in the air.

Suddenly two arms wrapped around her waist and a chin rested on her shoulder. "I just wanted to hold you my love." He kissed her cheek and whispered in her ear. "Like I always do, remember?"

       She hesitated. "That's all?"

"Of course my dear. I swear no other thought even played through my head. Only thought of holding you tight like always." He paused for a moment and she could feel the rest of his senence hanging in the air all there was to do was wait.

She waited for what seemed like hours. This time when he asked she would say yes. She was done with life, with memories of a love that was all in her head, and constant failures. This time she would say yes because for once she realized that she loved him. He was always there, always made her happy, and he always had her best interests at heart. She had finally found someone who cared about her and felt the same, and that alone was worth death. She would be finally free if he would just ask. However, for the first time since she had been meeting him she had the sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach that he wouldn't ask.
