Ghost of Love  © Don Yarber 1954

As I sit here in the dark woods,
is that you drawing near
Or is a mist arising from
the dark and marshy wier?
Is your hand upon my forehead
with soft and gentle stroke?
Or has a leaf fallen
from the lofty giant oak?
Is that your lips I feel,
so warmly brushing mine?
Or can it be rain I took
for lips as sweet as wine?
Can you come back my dear
From neath the sod that*s oer you?
Or will you send nature, like now
To love me for you?
