soul mates

Can you tell me where hope goes
I can no longer find it in my bones
As hard as I try to feel the happiness
That eternal bliss
I know within me it resides
Somewhere deep within it slides
My desperation grows stronger now
But I can nurture will if I allow

Where has the twinkle gone
and the laughter in my eyes
My optimistic self has taken leave of me
To my surprise
Experience and tragedy has taken over here
Please cease the pain and let contentment reappear

I have had enough of not enough and too little too late
How much longer will you make me wait
Can you show me a sign and let me see
What you just might have in store for me

The wait has been too long in coming
I’ve grown weary and my brain is numbing
Give a lift to me and show me your light
Please let me know that my path is right

Too many bends in the road have taken their toll
What is meant to be my new role
A lifetime of experience and fear has left me raw
I search for some positivity from which to draw

That will lift me from this darkened door
To cure me with a heart restored
To raise my faith to unbreakable ends
To where all my internal wounds are on the mend
