The narrative is very compulsive and drags the reader into the storyline

No it is not. But being compulsively readable as a writer is a very good sign. You have created a great narrative piece out there.

Under the Double Star - Chapter One

There will be more to chapter two in a while folks. gotta go now though tell me what you think so far!

My leg throbbed as I continued towards my house. I grunted in pain but still pushed on. Brendan followed me slowly, being careful not to get in my way. We soon arrived at the house and I saw two large headstones protruding from the earth. I walked towards them and kneeled down to look at them. One said,' James D Roads. Beloved father and Husband.' And the other,'Jane M Roads. Beloved mother and Wife.'I bowed down and laid my head on the ground. Tears threatened  to crawl out of my eyes but I pushed them back and slowly stood up. I looked towards Brendan and nodded my head in respect for what he did. I would thank him properly later, but now my throat refused to let words slip out. My heart grew heavy as I turned away but quickly rose up as I found myself standing in front of a knix Corpse. I looked towards Brendan and he said," I think you killed that one brother." I scrunched my eyebrows together and looked down at the Knix. There was a large hole in his neck and I remembered that was the Knix I had struck before being thrown. I looked towards the horizon and watched the sun set. When the final piece of it went under, My mind clicked and I knew what had to be done 2 comments

"You're nuts you know that," Brendan asked. I laughed and said,"Probably. But Brendan I will have my revenge. You've known me for 6 years do you honestly think that I would just let them kill my parents and get away with it?" He shook his head and replied," No I don't doubt it for a second. But a rebellion against the Knix are you insane? it would end in the genocide of us humans!" I pointed towards the dead Knix and said," If that one can fall so easily so can the others!" He rolled his eyes and turned towards it. 'You got lucky man. Your dad said sometimes we got lucky and killed one in the war. And this is one of those times." I shook my head and replied with agitation in my tone," don't you understand? When I ran after this Knix I thought of slashing his leg stooping him to my level. But something in my head clicked and instead i aimed for that spot. I don't know why it happened. but that Knix is dead because of it." He struggled to find an arguement and then said," How are we going to recruit? our kind is scattered across the world serving the Knix and restarting those ruins. We're all weak from the work and torture they put us through. we barely have the strength to swat away flies how do you expect us to win?" I smiled and said,"we'll worry about it when we have to. As of right now let's just focus on releasing them from their bonds." He was clearly worried and he changed the topic knowing he couldn't sway me," And if we win? We'll go back to the same exact way we used to be. That's our fatal flaw, we don't change!"  I sighed in frustration and sat down on the ground.  I kept quiet, looking at the barcode on my wrist that had been branded on wrist as an infant. I still remember asking my father about it when we finnaly escaped from the clutches of the knix. 3 comments

We weaved in and out of the shadows as my father led us through the alleys. The Knix were right on us and their voices echoed throughout the city. My father kept running,my mother and I following obediently. The gate soon loomed in front of us but two knix stood in the way. My father quickly killed them with a small shiv he had made just days ago. He took my mothers hand and she took mine as we ran outside of what was once our prison.

We soon came upon a home long abandoned. Mother and Father celebrated, but somehow I knew better. I picked up a stick and twirled it in my hand. It was light and I twirled it in my hand again, then laughed in enjoyment. My fathers eyes fell on me and I stopped suddenly, dropping the stick. He chuckled, his laugh much more higher then the gruff chuckle I was so used to. He walked towards me and I stumbled back still afraid of punishment. He put his hand on my shoulder and said softly," My son you no longer need to be afraid. We are free, and thus you can do whatever you want. Within reason of course." I smiled wide and picked up the stick. He picked up one and we stood off against one another. It was mostly just horsing around other then a real bout. Soon, I thought, I would be the greatest swordsman in modern times.

Monthes passed and soon years.  We were always moving from house to house. Evadin the Knix at every turn.Every now and then my eyes would fall onto my barcode tattoo. My curiousty had peaked and one day while we were walking I asked my father, " Dad, why did the Knix brand these strange tattoos on us?." His face turned grim and he replied with disgust in his tone," Its their way of keeping track of us. They have a device, a sort of locater, which tracks the barcode number. It tells them our location, and our health. Its quite a good way to keep us on their chain. Makes it difficult for fugitives such as you,me,and your mother to evade them. Your old man is a sharp one though don't you worry."
I nodded and we walked in silence until we made camp again. The memory faded away and I found tears streaking down my cheeks gravely missing my parents. 3 comments
